CBC Radio Interview

We were interviewed on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's National Radio Network on Friday, September 10th. This interview covered our experiences with Hurricane Frances and also the oncoming Hurricane Ivan. To hear the interview, please go to the archives at www.cbc.ca/thecurrent  and go to September 10, and play part 1.

In response to some emails, domes are very affordable. Our shell can be built for about $150,000 US (3000sq.ft.). Most domes are much less expensive. In our county, a medium priced home is valued at $100/sq ft.

We are featuring some of the most high-tech products, so that makes our dome more expensive. Domes can be built for about 2/3 the cost of conventional housing, there are no trusses, shingles or other exterior costs. The interior can be finished as inexpensively or extravagantly as the home owner wishes. You need to explore our site to see what products we chose and why we chose them. Others might choose differently for their dream home.

Our dome is not yet complete, we are under construction and should be done in about 30 days. The photos to the right are exterior shots right after Hurricane Frances left our area, the wood over the windows was to protect from large flying debris.
