Denise Green lives in Miami, Florida and is studying Feng Shui for her own applications, she suggested that our dome was perfect for feng shui and I asked her to write an article on the advantages of domes for feng shui design.

Feng Shui Basics

Feng Shui is the practice of harmonizing your living space. Chi is a life force that connects to the universe and the world we surround ourselves with. The bagua (pronounced Ba-gwa) is a map used in feng shui to find out which part of your home matches a particular situation is your life and can allow the chi to flow through this particular area to help you. The bagua is actually octagon shaped which optimizes dome home balance. The chart below can help you understand where each element and color is positioned in your home. Once you understand how to use this map you can adjust your home to maximize your quality of life.

Dome Home Feng Shui

Round shapes and domes represent Metal energy and are very conducive to children and creativity, in other words-projects or creations you give birth to. Metal is helped by earth (yellow), it is harmed by fire (red), weakened by water (blue), and it harms wood (green).

Inside your dome home, you can optimize feng shui. The chart above is used to diagram a regular square shaped room but for your dome home, you can maximize the octagon shape of the bagua. The shape of the space is round. One of the major goals of feng shui in a regular home is to combat the corners.

Corners do not allow the chi to flow properly. Wind chimes and round leafed plants are usually added to diffuse corners. In a dome home that is obviously unnecessary. The chi is free to flow in a clockwise motion around the space and provide more harmonious living.
