Attaching the Airform

April 8, 2003

This is the 2nd to last step before inflation of the airform. You have to put Tapcon screws into a steel band around the circumference of the entire airform above the imbedded rope of the bottom seam. It took an entire box of tapcon screws to accomplish this. We started out using one drill with a special flip attachment that had both the drill bit and screw heads.

But it worked out better when Billy did the drilling with an electric drill and I followed with the screw gun and the screw attachment. We used knee pads and basically crawled around the perimeter of the footing ring in the hot sun. Later Chester came over with his little Bobcat and made a nice sloping ramp for the entrance of the airlock. There will be a lot of traffic thru there for the next few months.
