Here are some updated photos of our garden and surrounding plantings. After the past week's rains everything has come back strong. We had a 17 month drought in South Florida, and now is the start of the rainy season. We should be able to get a pretty good crop of citrus if the fruit isn't blown off the trees like the past couple of years. Everything is in bloom, and the vegetables are getting bigger, we have harvested lettuce and tomatoes, and are excited about the squash and zucchini. We ordered our beehive and equipment and it should be here in about a week, coming from upstate NY. Apparently we'll have some really expensive honey in a little while. Starting a bee hive from scratch is kinda costly, but the long term effect is that we will have our own pollination and the byproduct is honey. It will be wildflower honey and orange blossom honey. Billy has about 20 years experience doing this, so I'll let him get suited up and play with the bees. The tilapia have spawned and the pond is full of "fry", no pun intended. There are thousands of them swimming around, they are about 1/4" long and will mature to about 12" long. We'll start harvesting some of the adult males soon and clean them and put them into the freezer for a big fish fry. We'll have more on our garage addition shortly, there have been some new developments.
