These are photos of an art project that I worked on for several months. I took three large canvases and bolted them together to make one large canvas 7' x 4' to hang above our bed upstairs. It had to fit between the light fixtures. I wanted to make a dimensional piece of art that was different from just making a painting. I used a paper compound and mixed it into some white glue and sculpted it into the dolphin shapes. The dolphin bodies are about 3 to 4 inches out from the surface of the canvas. I then sealed them and started on the background of the painting. I didn't want it to be too realistic. I added the body paint to the dolphins after I finished the background. Then I added some actual fan coral, stag horn coral and some starfish and sand dollars to the scene. I used some of the base colors from the bedroom walls so it would fit in with the scheme, but added in coral red, purple and green. Billy was really pleased with the way it turned out. I love it. I think it really finished off the room decor. Now I am starting one for the wall above the balcony, I am thinking about doing something with Atlantis undersea ruins, mermaids and aquatic life.
