Painting the top

Over the past three days Billy has been touching up some more stucco areas that needed filling. He mixed up another 5 gallons of STO and applied it by hand with a trowel and also using a large sponge to float the final coat. On Wednesday, he got up on the top of the dome and rolled on a new coat of elastomeric paint full strength. He used his new safety harness connected to the eyebolt in the top center of the dome, placed there when we first built. It is blazing white compared to the old coat of paint on the rest of the dome. Now on Friday we will paint the entire rest of the surface of the dome to match the top.

Last night, Wednesday, a bobcat shredded his way into our chicken area, killing both ducks, a turkey, a golden comet hen and two chicks. Billy was awakened at 4am and went out to the back and chased him off. Now we are down to three golden comet hens, one turkey and three chicks.

Billy was really attached to these birds, and we are going to build a portable chicken coop that can be dragged around the yard right away. We will be using welded wire and 2 x 4's to prevent the bobcat from getting in.
