Coming round the bend

We had a five hour window before the afternoon storms begins so we thought we could get most of the front side done with time to dry. There is a big open space between the back window of the guest room and the guest bathroom windows.

That went very quickly, since we discovered a system with the big ladder (25'). We only paint to the right side, then move the ladder to the left and do it again. It made for much less going back with a little ladder (6') to get the spot where the big ladder was resting against the dome. It only took us a couple of days to figure this out after schlepping the little ladder along.

We got a little overspray on the windows which came right off with Windex and a flat razor blade scraper. After the paint dried around the windows, I went back with the hose and washed the windows so there was no paint residue left on them.

The cute sea life pieces were getting faded from the strong Florida sun, so we decided to just paint them white so there is now a bas-relief type of effect on the front face of the portico.

We finished up around next to the screen dome and left a small spot up above the screen dome that needs to be painted another day. The rains moved in early, but the paint had enough time to dry so it wouldn't wash off. We have to devise a system to reach up by the master bathroom window by going up through the screen dome. Billy wants to make a trap door screen triangle so he can put the tall ladder up thru there so he can paint and maintain that hard to reach area.
