 Billy made a measuring device out of 1" plastic pvc pipe so that we could scribe the 50' diameter circle. He put a piece of rebar in the center and then made a 25' length of pvc with one end that had a "t", and the other end two vertical lengths that would approximate the trench width of 36". This scratched a fairly accurate double circle that we would be able to excavate between. This was very easy to move around ahead of the backhoe. Each of the vertical pieces was made to be the correct depth of the trench on the inside and outside(14" and 13" respectively).
