We tried to put the sand coat on the interior of the dome on Wednesday. We were not successful. There were major problems with the pump, it couldn't pump the mix (sand and cement) up to the bucket lift. After only 1/2 a yard, Billy and Albert got down on the ground level and sprayed around the interior walls in the dining room and into the portico, using up another yard of mix. After they got the spraying going just right, the pump froze up and stopped. We had to send back 3 1/2 yards to the ready mix company yard.

We were very disappointed about the whole day. We had rented the compressor, man-lift, and hired two workers to help with the hoses and equipment. Albert was really hustling to get the sand on the wall, but the pump just didn't have the guts to pump it uphill to the man-lift. We cancelled the two trucks we had scheduled for Thursday (ten yards).

We are in the process of trying to figure out how we can get the results we want, a smooth finish over the rough shotcrete. It is very important to us that the interior walls are as beautiful as possible.
