Assembling Blocks for Theatre November 08, 2003 |
We started the glueing process on Saturday, and Larry Regier came over to help with the rebar and assembly. We ordered 40 20 foot pieces of #4 for the horizontal runs, and also 60 12.5 foot pieces for the verticals. The only places we have to carve the blocks is the front curve area.

The plumbing stack is also a place to notch the blocks to fit around the pvc. The corner pieces flip back and forth to make a stronger corner and that makes the wall offset in the length, so we have to insert a half block every other row in the back wall. On each of the side walls, we have to insert a 1/3 block. After laying the rebar, it's very easy to assemble the blocks, the glue gives you several minutes before it starts setting up. You have to be very sparing with the bead of foam, because it expands and moves the blocks if you have too much between them. We'll try to get another layer done on Sunday, but we are waiting for the V-Buck for the door for the theatre before we can finish.
